Orthodontic Tips

Eating Right

Eating well and protecting your braces, meal after meal.

  • Steer clear of hard, crunchy, sticky, and chewy foods. Popcorn, nuts, ice, hard candy, gum, and caramel are the usual culprits behind a broken bracket.
  • Cut fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, and corn off the cob into bite-size pieces before eating.
  • Lean on soft foods like pasta, yogurt, eggs, soup, and smoothies, especially the day after an adjustment.
  • Go easy on sugary and acidic drinks, which feed cavities around your brackets.
